DWL works closely with each client to determine how we can best support your program.  We bring expertise of youth programming as well as knowledge of best practices, standards development, current research, and policies.  Best of all, we know how to write and frame complex information in ways that are easily accessible by users.  A few samples of our quality improvement tools are below.


Indiana Afterschool Network Quality Program Self Assessment (IN-QPSA) Online Tool

Client: Indiana After School Network (IAN), 2013

Development Without Limits was engaged by IAN to develop an online self-assessment tool based on the Indiana Afterschool Standards. DWL also collaborated with IAN to develop standards in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM); Summer Programming; College and Career Readiness; and Youth Mentoring for out-of-school time programs. DWL also provided the web development and graphic design for this project.

Client: Asia Society, 2011

Development Without Limits created the Expanding Horizons Toolkit for Directors and the Expanding Horizons Toolkit for Trainers (both accessible for free) to help staff integrate global learning into before-school, afterschool, and summer programs. It provides hands-on materials that supplement and extend the Expanding Horizons: Building Global Literacy in Afterschool Programs guidebook and video (published by Asia Society in 2009 and available through their website). DWL works with Asia Society to conduct professional development for afterschool networks across the country that are funded by the Mott Foundation.


U.S. Department of Education’s You4Youth Coaching Modules

Client: Manhattan Strategy Group/United States Department of Education, 2011

The Coaching Modules in the U.S. Department of Education’s professional development portal (http://y4y.ed.gov), support afterschool and summer program in designing, implementing, and managing effective programs for youth in grades K-12. As part of the Manhattan Strategy Group’s team, DWL compiled and created sets of tools, templates, and additional resources to support program managers in:

NYSAN Program Quality Self- Assessment Tool User’s Guide

Client: New York State After School Network (NYSAN), 2008

Development Without Limits was engaged by NYSAN to develop, write, and design this guide to assist afterschool practitioners in using the Program Quality Self-Assessment Tool. This tool has been adopted by programs and regulatory agencies across the state of New York.
