How to Create an Environment for Youth Leadership

Every young person brings unique skills, talents, and leadership potential to your program. By engaging youth in meaningful leadership opportunities, educators can foster healthier learning environments while instilling the confidence youth need to become active citizens in their schools and communities. In this three hour session,  program directors and educators will share their current practices, discuss their challenges and problem-solve together to advance their goals of increasing youth leadership within their programming. Drawing upon the publication, Putting Youth in the Driver’s Seat, participants will understand how to create/strengthen an environment that integrates youth leadership, shift their own roles to provide space for youth leadership and foster the capacity of youth for constructive decision-making.
